"I just wanted to let you know that I just got cleared by the NCAA so I'm all ready to start school on the 20th," Johnson said. "I'm real happy about it. It's a big relief knowing that I'll be there for the spring."
Johnson, 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds, is a four-star offensive line prospect and is a huge get for the Hurricanes. Getting him for the spring is even better for Miami, who will be looking for a starting right tackle starting in the spring. Johnson is excited about his future as a Cane.
"Miami's where I always wanted to play," he said. "It's a great program. They didn't do that great this season because they had to rely on so many young players. A lot of those guys will be a little older next year. With last year's class and this one coming in, Miami will be back to the top real soon."
Johnson becomes the seventh commitment to be admitted for the spring semester -- he joins four-star RB Mike James, 3-star OL Brandon Washington, 3-star TE Stephen Plein, 4-star DE Olivier Vernon, 3-star DT Curtis Porter, and 4-star CB Brandon McGee.
