McKay eyeing new offer from Huskies

Every program in the country is looking for a big-hitter who can roam the secondary as an enforcer but also has the ball-skills to make teams pay when they make mistakes. Long Beach Poly S Stanjarivus McKay is a player that teams up and down the west coast have begun to heat up on and recently he received an offer from the Huskies and he couldn't be happier about it...

"(Washington) offered me a couple of weeks ago," McKay told "It was right before the holidays and coach (Demetrice) Martin and I were talking and he said they were offering me and they wanted me to take a visit."

McKay had an outstanding senior season for the Jack Rabbit's posting 75 tackles and eight interceptions while earning All-League and All-CIF honors.

"I like hitting, that's what I do best, but I can cover guys and make plays on the ball when it's in the air," McKay noted. "Run support is where you can get physical with guys and I like to make receivers pay for catches across the middle."

In addition to his offer from the Huskies, McKay recently was offered by UCLA and already had offers from Hawaii and Colorado in his back pocket.

"All of them like me at safety," McKay said. "I already visited Colorado and it was a good visit for me and I got to meet the coaches and get to know some of the players.

"I'm visiting Hawaii this weekend and then I'll be at Washington on the 23rd or the 16th, I'm not 100% sure on that right now, but I am going to take a visit to Washington for sure."

What about UCLA?

"It's close to home and they have a good system in place there," McKay said. "I'd say they are probably the school I'm leaning towards, but honestly I'm going to look at all the schools and where I fit in best.

"I'm going to check (UCLA) out too, but I want to make sure I choose the right school for me and what I'm looking for, so I won't decide anything until I do that."

We'll continue to track McKay's progress and update news as it happens.
