"I am taking a visit to Mississippi State tomorrow," said Reid. "I am going by myself. They have a new coach, Dan Mullen, and Coach Hevesy was recruiting me when he was at Florida. We had a good relationship. He told me I have the chance to come in there and play early."
The Bulldogs offered Jamal back during the spring while Coach Sylvester Croom and his staff were calling the shots.
Reid was holding out for an offer from Miami then. He committed to the 'Canes not long after Coach Randy Shannon and his staff extended their offer.
Jamal reports that his commitment to Miami remains in tact, but he has not shut the door completely.
"I am pretty solid with Miami, but I have a chance to go to Mississippi State and play early," said Reid. "It doesn't hurt to go see other schools. My family thought it was a good idea too."
The Mayo standout will be the only visitor during the mid-week and he is rather excited about having everyone's full attention.
"I am just looking for a good enviornment and see how the coaches are," said Jamal. "I want to see if it's a good atmosphere for me and meet some of the players. I have never been there before."
Reid it taking his official visit to Mississippi State with the full blessing of the Miami coaching staff.
"Miami told me I could take any visits I wanted to," said Reid. "They said they could trust me and to have a good time with everything."
Upon the completion of his visit to Mississippi State, Jamal will fly to Jacksonville, Florida to meet his mother on their way to Miami for his official visit there this weekend.
