Richards Looks to Get Out of Limbo

With less than a week to go, Cornelius Richards is still trying to get a handle on what his options will be come signing day. At last report, Richards had an offer from Charleston Southern and a grey shirt offer from UAB. He has been in contact with the Mississippi State coaches. He enters this weekend's visit looking to learn more about his options in Starkville.

"I am going to Mississippi State this weekend," said Richards. "Coach Mullen and Coach Torbush came by today. He was telling me about how he runs his program and what all he bring to the table."

The standout defensive back liked what he heard, but he is still not sure if the Bulldogs plan on signing him.

"I am not sure where things stand right now," said Cornelius. "He said we would talk about everything this weekend."

Richards has no problem being honest about his hopes for the weekend trip.

"I am really hoping to get a scholarship offer," said Cornelius. "I want to see a laid back campus and see all the things there are to do there. I went over there when they played Arkansas. I got to look around some then. I got there about two hours early and I got to see some things then."

The Tuscaloosa native will not be alone when he arrives in Starkville Friday afternoon.

"My mother is coming with me," said Cornelius. "She wants to see about all the academics and the dorm rooms."

Richards is excited about the weekend's activities, but perhaps his sit down with Coach Mullen is the event he is most eager to undertake.

"It's kind of nerve wracking not knowing," said Cornelius. "If Mississippi State offers me, I am going to sign with them. If they don't, I am going to sign with UAB. They have given me a full offer now. They are not going to grey shirt me, but they want to redshirt me."
