ATH Joe Craig Profile

6-0, 170-pound speedster Joe Craig of Gaffney High School is hearing from a number of schools through the early stages of the recruiting process, but is still waiting on his first offer.

"I don't have any offers yet, but I am hearing from a lot of schools. I am hearing the most from Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina and Duke," he told in a recent interview. "They have contacted me the most. I have also heard from Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, UCLA and Boise State."

The talented athlete could play a number of positions on the next level. What position are teams recruiting him for the most?

"They are recruiting me to play receiver or defensive back," replied Craig.

When asked about his early favorites, Craig responded, "Right now I would say Clemson and Georgia."

What does he like about both schools?

Clemson: "I really like the fans. They love their football team. I went to the Maryland game. The fans really love their players, even when they make mistakes."

Georgia: "I really like the coaches they have at Georgia. I love the campus."

The two-way standout recently visited Georgia for Junior Day in Athens.

"I went to Georgia for Junior Day. Coach Richt spent some time with me and my family. He played around with us. I really liked that," said Craig.

What are the strengths of this Palmetto standout?

"I would say my speed and possession of the football," replied Craig.

Gaffney will have to replace a lot of starters from last year's squad, but the Indians will be tough to beat once again next season.

"Yes, we lose most of our good players. We lose every one of our offensive and defensive line but one player. We lose all of our defensive backs. We will have to work hard," said Craig.

The combine tour this spring will allow Joe to show what he can do against some of the top players in the Southeast.

"I am going to go to some combines this spring. I am not sure which ones yet," he added.
