Upland (Calif.) quarterback and Stanford signee Josh Nunes earned a prestigious award from Fox Sports West...

From Upland Release:

This past week, Upland/Stanford Bound Quarterback Josh Nunes received another high honor to add to his collection. Amy Wilson, Marketing Manager, Producer for Fox Sports West & Prime Ticket informed Upland High School Athletic Director Jim Drake and the Upland football coaching staff that Josh Nunes has been selected as the Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket Farmers Student Athlete Citizen Award winner.

Josh will be presented with the award at the Fox Sports West & Prime Ticket Offices/Studio live on camera on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.

Upland Athletic Director Jim Drake had this to say about Nunes.

"Josh is a great kid and he has done extremely well in his high school career here at Upland. Josh will represent Upland High School well!"

Recruiting Coordinator / Assistant Coach Mike Esquivel said the following:

"Being selected for the John Wooden/High School Scholar-Athlete Award for 2008 was a great honor for Josh back in December. 561 schools were notified of having student-athletes who qualified and three boys and three girls were selected. Leadership, Athletics, Academics and community involvement were the deciding factors for the Wooden award. Now adding this latest honor (Fox Sports West Farmers Student Athlete Citizen Award) for him is just another example of how special Josh was for Upland High School, and the city of Upland. He accomplished so much off and on the field it was awesome to witness. A kid like Nunes doesn't come around too often. We are going to miss him here at Upland. 20 years from now when you set foot on campus at Upland High. There will be some type of Nunes Appeal that will be displayed. Simply, Josh has earned the right to be one of the best sports icon's here at Upland High School."
