"My coach sent my highlight down to Southern Miss," said Love. "They liked what they saw and they think I would fit in well with their offense."
Once Love received word that the Golden Eagles were interested in talking to him he picked up the phone and made the call.
"I talked to Coach Fedora and the offensive coordinator," said Jamerson. "They told me they were impressed at how I ran the ball and how I catch the ball out of the backfield. They told me I have the chance to compete for the starting job as a freshman because they have some senior running backs."
The news of Jameson's first offer was very well received by both his family and his coaching staff.
"My mom knew before I did, so she was real excited," said the talented running back. "They actually offered me last night and Coach Duncan told my mama before he told me. She thinks it's a good school. They have a good graduation rate, so she likes that."
Love had the chance to tour the Southern Miss facilities earlier this month when he attended the program's junior day.
"They have a nice campus," said Jamerson. "I like how they do stuff down there. They are on my top list. They are at the top."
Two other instate programs have also shown Love a good bit of interest.
"Mississippi State and Ole Miss are recruiting me," said Love. "I call coach Turner from Mississippi State a good bit. He said he liked my tape and they like what I do on the field. I don't know what they are going to do right now. I am supposed to call them tonight. I just got done working out, so I am going to call them in a little while."
