Interest still coming for committed WR

Sean Tapley is one of the top wide receiver prospects in north Florida this year and caught up with the Jacksonville (Raines) standout to talk about the latest.

Steve Spurrier and his South Carolina coaching staff saw something in wide receiver Sean Tapley before anyone else. At least they acted on their feelings, becoming the first program to offer the talented junior a scholarship several months ago. That decision paid off for them, as Tapley committed to the Gamecocks a short time later.

"I'm still committed," Tapley said. "I went up there last summer and really liked the coaches. I felt like I was right at home. They're a good program and I like how they throw the ball a lot."

Despite the commitment, Tapley is still getting strong interest from other programs. Illinois and Purdue have come in with offers recently.

"I'm committed but I'm still gonna look around and take some visits to make sure I'm making the right decision," he said. "I just haven't had a chance to see many other schools yet."

One of the schools Tapley has seen is Florida. He talked about his interest in the Gators.

"Florida's up there on my list," he said. "They were actually my top team growing up. I went to a game there last year and I went there for a practice recently. They seem interested and want me to come back and come to their camp."

Illinois, LSU, and Alabama round out Tapley's early list of favorites and talked about his final decision.

"I'll just see what feels right," he said. "I really like South Carolina but I just gotta see what else is out there, what fits me best."

Tapley, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, finished his junior season with 29 catches for 495 yards and four touchdowns. Inside the classroom, he claims a 2.8 GPA and hasn't reported a test score yet.
