Recruiting: OSU Offers Another Georgia Player

Defensive tackle Shawn Green of Loganville (Grayson), Ga., is becoming quite popular as the the 6-1, 283-pounder picked up his sixth Division I scholarship offer. This one coming from Oklahoma State out of the Big 12. Green already has offers from East Carolina, Michigan State, Mississippi, Indiana, and Toledo.

New Toledo head coach Tim Beckman has picked up a few Georgia connections after seeing how it worked for Oklahoma State while he was defensive coordinator there. Green said he is excited about the Oklahoma State offer.

"It's been crazy, very crazy, the recruiting process," said Green. "I know I've seen Oklahoma State on TV and I've seen them on the Internet, and I'm interested in any school that wants to offer me."

So far Green has been on campus to four schools. He has seen Clemson, Wake Forest, and in-state Georgia, but none of those schools have offered. "I get letters here and there," he said.

He has also visited Mississippi and that was impressive to him. "My trip to Ole Miss, I liked it very much," started Green. "I liked the coaches and the campus atmosphere was what I would like. It was a great visit (unofficial). I want to visit all the schools that have offered if I can in the summer. I'd like to see them all."

Green is powerful. He has a 310-pound bench press max and a very impressive 600-pound max on the squat. His speed is average for that position and size with a 5.22 in the forty.

He competes in the shot put in track and recently won best in the county. It's a tough county too as Green was named first team coaches All-State and to the Chevy All-State team yet he was second team All-County last season. Green finished the season with 69 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks.
