Busy Summer For DaQuan Jones

DaQuan Jones is one of the premiere prospects in the northeast and is getting plenty of interest from college recruiters. He currently has seven offers and is getting interest from schools along the East Coast. One of the schools in the mix for his services is Boston College.

The May evaluation period is not only when coaches make new offers, it is when schools try to strengthen their position with prospects that they have already offered. Boston College was one of the first schools to offer DaQuan Jones and remain very much in the mix for his services.

"Everything is going good. I missed the NC State spring game and the Boston College spring game, because some things came up and I could not get out to those two events. Other than that, everything is going good.

"Boston College is nice I like the campus and really like coach Comish (Coach Comissiong) . We're clicking really well and getting to know each other better. I like them a lot."

In addition to Boston College, DaQuan has six other offers and is getting the full-court press from those schools as well during the spring.

"Boston College and Maryland are recruiting me the hardest right now, but Penn State is very interested. Coach McQueary came up to my school and talked to my coaches. BC has also been in along with Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Connecticut."

With seven offers in hand, DaQuan is still wide open and looking to build the list of schools recruiting him and extending offers.

"I'm looking at summer camps. I'm trying to go to the schools that have not offered me yet. I'm going to the Tennessee camp. I'm going to try the Florida camp. I'm not sure on others at this point but I'm still working on my summer plans."

As far as where he projects at the college level, DaQuan said, "I'm up to three hundred pounds. Schools are looking at me mostly as a defensive tackle, but all of them say I can also play the offensive line. I prefer tackle. It seems that defensive tackle is where everyone thinks I fit best."

Academics will play a role, but that is undefined at this point.

"My grades are decent. I try to keep them in the high 80's, but I can do better. Academics are important, but I have not decided on what I want from a school on that one. "

The plan for the summer is to get out to as many schools that have not offered and then look at his options toward the end of the summer. From there DaQuan intends to make a list of favorites and focus on those schools for official visits.
