Georgia LB enjoys Miami camp

Tyrone Cornileus is one of the top linebacker prospects in the state of Georgia for the Class of 2010 and the Stephenson High standout took part in Miami's summer camp on Sunday and came away impressed.

Tyrone Cornileus took an unofficial visit to Miami earlier this year for the school's spring game. He was back in town this past weekend.

"I went to the Miami camp yesterday," he said. "It was real good. The competition was strong. I basically got a better feel for Miami and how the coaches coach. I enjoyed it."

Cornileus, 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, said he was able to learn some things during his stay.

"It kinda helped me enhance my skills some with some of the linebacker drills we did," he said. "The coaches out there are great, I really like them."

In addition to spending time with the coaches, Cornileus said he had a chance to meet with some of the players.

"I got to hang out with some of the coaches and players," he said. "On Saturday I was with Darryl Sharpton. It was me, Darius Robinson, and Michael Taylor."

So after his second visit to Miami in a few months, where does Cornileus have the Canes ranked?

"Miami is probably one of my top schools, right with Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Michigan, and Auburn," he said. "They all offered me. I have about 18 or 19 now."

Next up is a trip to a few SEC schools. He talked about it.

"Next place I'll be going to is Vanderbilt and Tennessee," he said. "That's next weekend. After that, I may take some more unofficial visits."

The standout linebacker prospect talked about what he'll be looking for in a school when it comes time to make that decision.

"The most important things I'm looking for in a school is academics and the engineering program," he said. "Also, the tradition of the football team and a good coaching staff will be real important. I wanna see how the bond is with the players and coaching staff. And then how quick I can get on the field."

Inside the classroom, Cornileus claims a 3.0 GPA and a 19 ACT score.
