Woestmann Chooses Vandy

The offer total had grown to 15 and was not slowing down. Narrowing the list all the way down to the home-state Bulldogs and the Commodores, Woestmann had to eliminate the likes of Boston College, Stanford, South Carolina and Clemson. Wrestling with the decision so much that he had to take an impromptu trip to Nashville, it took a mere 5+ hours on campus to know what he had known all along.

"I had always had the feeling of being at home whenever I would visit Vanderbilt," Kyle Woestmann said. "But I was still unsure about my decision and I needed one last trip to verify that Nashville was the right place."

When did you decide to head up to the campus?

"They were having a team cookout, so it was a good chance to meet all of the players and some of the recruits," he said. "And it turned out to be a great trip."

I found exactly what I was looking for, which was a great family atmosphere, a close-knit group and an emphasis on high character."

Now that your decision is official, are you completely finished with the recruiting process?

"I don't foresee there being a better fit for me in America than Vanderbilt," Woestmann shared. "So with that in mind, I am finished."

There are only a few guys who make it long enough in the NFL to make a living, and a degree from Vanderbilt is worth its weight in gold."

What now?

"I'm just going to keep working hard in preparation for this season," he said. "And now that the recruiting process is over, I can really focus on getting better."
