Cincinnati St. Francis DeSales guard Travis Jackson committed to Michigan State overnight becoming the 8th Spartan commit. GSN's Sean Scherer sat down for an interview with Jackson. Sean: How does it feel to be a Spartan?

Travis: "I mean just to get a look from a school like Michigan State was awesome but to be able to say that you are going to play college football at a place like that and for a such an amazing coaching staff is such and honor. (It's also an honor) to be able to carry on the Michigan State tradition, that will be great in itself."

Sean: What made you lean towards Michigan State?

Travis: "Michigan State's campus had a great feel and the coaches there are really special. When I was talking to them, I really bought in to what they were saying and I just know there is something great happening at Michigan State and I can't wait to be a part of it."

Sean: What was Coach Dantonio reaction?

Travis: "Coach Dantonio seemed just as happy as he asked me if I was sure that I wanted to be a Spartan. As soon as I said "yes" he jumped up with a smile on his face and gave me a hug."

Sean: What are your Senior team goals?

Travis: "Obviously our team goals are to win our league, have an undefeated season, and win a state title. We have a chance to do it too. DeSales has a great coaching staff and we got a lot of great football players. We are very excited for the season."

Sean: What are your personal goals for your Senior year?

Travis: "My personal goals our my teams goals."

Sean: When you were on campus, could you feel the family atmosphere?

Travis:" I loved the feel of the campus. It is big, but when you're on the campus it really doesn't feel that big. I had a chance to talk to some freshman who had been there for three days and they already seemed like they were getting along, like they had been there for months. There is a definite family atmosphere at MSU."

Sean: What did your family think of Michigan State?

Travis: "My family loved it. They especially loved the coaches and thought the facilities were awesome. It was definitely reassuring when they told me right before I committed that it was a perfect fit for me."

Sean: When did you start playing football?

Travis: "Well my parents had me in a flag football league when I was six, but I think I strapped on the pads around the 4th grade."

Sean: What coaches have impacted you along the way?

Travis: "To be honest with you, I think every coach I ever had really impacted me. As you go on even through little league you take a little something from every coach. My two biggest impacts our my Oline coach now Coach Bahen and my head coach Coach Wiggins."

Sean: What were Coach Bahen and Coach Wiggins reaction to your commitment to Michigan State?

Travis: "They fully supported my decision. They have known the Michigan State staff through their recruitment of Patrick Omameh, so they knew that I was committing to a great coaching staff."

Sean: What is one thing you need to work on off the field to make you a better player on the field?

Travis: "I have gained a lot of weight this off season through lifting, and the best part about it is that I've been able to keep my speed up. So I think really getting stronger and bigger, but also keeping the athleticism."
