Seven And Counting For DFW Area Star

It is the middle of the summer, so it is time to get caught up on who has offers from who as we talk to the coaches around the state on their players being recruited.

James Sims came like a storm onto the high school football scene in Dallas. In fact he was named his district's Offensive Sophomore of the Year. He continued that strong sophomore season with a better junior season rushing for 1149 yards on 206 carries for 15 touchdowns. Even more he caught 21 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns.

All of that is very nice, but it is his physical skills and athletic ability that makes him a college prospect. At 5-11, 205 pounds and running a 4.5 in the fourty, you have a big compact back who can run. He transfered those skills to big time production last season and it caught the attention of colleges.

"James Sims has offers from Kansas, Tulsa, Purdue, UTEP, Utah, North Texas, and Iowa State", said Head Football Coach Brian Basil.

At the end of May his offers were "Kansas, Purdue, UTEP and North Texas", so Utah, Tulsa, and Iowa State have thrown in offers since last time we talked with Coach Basil.

No doubt more offers are sure to come for Sims, especially once he gets into his senior season.
