Summer Prognosticating

With the close of summer brings about the midway mark of the class of 2010 recruiting cycle. Many student-athletes rush to make a commitment before the season, and the recruiting team wants to take a sneak peak at what the top prospects in the country may end up doing before they sign on the dotted line six months from now. Summer Predictions
Seantrel Henderson – #1 Overall / OT – St. Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham Hall
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Florida, Ohio State, USC.

Allen Trieu's breakdown: He really has not shown his hand much and in actuality, I don't believe he has a true favorite and he has not even named all his officials yet. So this prognostication is more of a shot in the dark than the others, but I'll go with Florida on more of a gut feeling.

Allen Trieu Prediction: Florida
Marcus Lattimore – #2 Overall / RB – Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, and South Carolina.

Chad Simmons breakdown: North Carolina and FSU are in this one as are other schools, but I still have to go with my gut and my gut says he stays home. I have to say South Carolina at this time for Lattimore.

Chad Simmons Prediction: South Carolina
Justin McCay – #3 Overall / OLB – Shawnee Mission (Kan.) Bishop Miege
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma

Baron Flenory breakdown: Has travelled a lot lately, but I flat out asked him; If you had to end it today, where would you go? He answered, "Oklahoma." So I am going with that.

Baron Flenory Prediction: Oklahoma
Jeff Luc – #4 Overall / MLB – Port St Lucie (Fla.) Treasure Coast
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, and USC.

Chad Simmons breakdown: I feel Luc stays in state when all is said and done and I am leaning towards Florida right now. Florida State is in it and you can't totally rule out hometown Miami, but I will say the Gators get Luc.

Chad Simmons Prediction: Florida
Jackson Jeffcoat – #7 Overall / DE – Plano (Tx.) Plano West
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Georgia, Houston, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.

Baron Flenory breakdown: I had it down to SC, OU, and Texas but Jeffcoat only visited SC and Texas this summer and only worked out at SC. Plus, his relationship with Coach Norton gives SC the nod. Texas would be my next guess.

Baron Flenory Prediction: USC
Lache Seastrunk – #8 Overall / RB – Temple (Tx.)
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Auburn, Baylor, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC.

Baron Flenory breakdown: One team has been a constent in an otherwise random recruitment.

Baron Flenory Prediction: Auburn
Jordan Hicks – #10 Overall / OLB – West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Ohio State, Texas, USC, Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Bob Lichtenfels breakdown: I'm not saying there is a real front runner, but several of my sources feel that Alabama could be the team to beat for Hicks. But just like most of the big time five-star kids there is a long way to go here.

Bob Lichtenfels Prediction: Alabama
Kyle Prater – #11 Overall / WR – Hillside (Ill.) Proviso West
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Alabama, Illinois, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and USC.

Allen Trieu breakdown: Prater has a list of ten and will cut down to his five officials before the season. I don't believe think he will drag it out too long before making his choice. I do believe that proximity will have some effect and with the class that is being built over in Champaign right now and quarterback commitment Chandler Whitmer in his ear all the time, I will go with Illinois on this one.

Allen Trieu Prediction: Illinois
Corey Lemonier – #13 Overall / DE – Hialeah (Fla.) Senior
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Miami, Notre Dame, and Tennessee.

Chad Simmons breakdown: I feel Lemonier stays in the Sunshine State and I feel the closest program to Hialeah has the edge at this time. Miami is the school I am going with, but both Florida and Florida State are in the race as well.

Chad Simmons Prediction: Miami
Malcolm Jones – #15 Overall / RB – Westlake Village (Cal.) Oaks Christian
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as California, Stanford, and UCLA.

Brandon Huffman breakdown: The first school to offer Jones, the top running back in a loaded Golden State crop, was Stanford, doing so last August. UCLA and Cal also offered Jones, as did USC, where his brother, Marshall is a safety. Jones has made it pretty clear he plans to stay in California. He's focused on three, Cal, UCLA and Stanford, but in the end, the high value Jones places on academics coupled with the hard work that Jim Harbaugh put in from the beginning has the call being for the Cardinal.

Brandon Huffman Prediction: Stanford
Lamarcus Joyner – #18 Overall / CB – Ft. Lauderale (Fla.) Aquinas
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Miami, and USC.

Chad Simmons breakdown: Another Florida athlete that will end up staying home. He was in Tallahassee recently and I think that is who he signs with in February.

Chad Simmons Prediction: Florida State
Sean Parker – #19 Overall / S – Harbor City (Cal.) Narbonne
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA, and USC.

Brandon Huffman breakdown:He's been saying since he shined at the Combine as a sophomore, before he had offers, he was leaning towards leaving the state. Now he's got plenty of options to do so. While it wouldn't surprise anyone if he left California, his close relationship with Byron Moore, a former teammate at Narbonne and a freshman at USC, has us thinking that Parker will end up staying in SoCal.

Brandon Huffman Prediction: USC
Gabe King – #24 Overall / DE – Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Alabama, California, Oregon, and Tennessee.

Chad Simmons breakdown: It looks like at this time that King is leaning heavily towards leaving the east cost for the west coast. California is the team to beat for King and while others still have a shot, it looks like the Cal Bears have a firm lead.

Chad Simmons Prediction: California
Damien Robinson – #29 Overall / OT – Olive Branch (Miss.)
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, and Tennessee.

Chad Simmons breakdown: He recently took a trip to Mississippi State, but it appears that was more of a courtesy visit and he will end up leaving the state. It looks like it the two that stand out now are Alabama and Tennessee. I am going to go with Tennessee and that may surprise some, but I feel Bama may be all but done on the OL and the Vols are going hard after this one.

Chad Simmons Prediction: Tennessee
Sharrif Floyd – #30 Overall / DT – Philadelphia (Pa.) George Washington
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, and Rutgers.

Bob Lichtenfels breakdown: I can see a Big Ten battle shaping up here with Michigan and Penn State. Larry Johnson is a great defensive line coach and he has not lost many guys that he has really wanted.

Bob Lichtenfels Prediction: Penn State
Darius White – #32 Overall / WR – Fort Worth (Tx.) Dunbar
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and USC.

Baron Flenory breakdown:It is tough to escape the Longhorns if they want you however, the longer this recruitment goes, the less likely it is that he will be a Longhorn. Also, White's relationship with the OU coaches and his familiarity with the program will be the determining factor.

Baron Flenory Prediction: Oklahoma
Ronald Powell – #34 Overall / DE – Moreno Valley (Cal.) Rancho Verde
The skinny: Currently lists favorites as Florida and USC.

Brandon Huffman breakdown: Powell's made it pretty crystal clear that it's a two-team race. The Trojans were the first to offer Powell, doing so the summer between his sophomore and junior year, and the Gators have been all over Powell, having him in for their camp late last month. USC has told him he'll have a shot at any position. Meanwhile, Florida is hoping Powell spurns his homeland and comes across the country like he did with Friday Night Lights. This one is too close to call, so we'll go 51-49 in favor of the home team.

Brandon Huffman Prediction: USC
