Stephen Morris, the 6-foot-2, 181-pound quarterback from Monsignor Pace High School in Miami, Fla., committed to "Miami approximately one hour ago this morning.

"I called coach (Aubrey) Hill (wide receivers) this morning at about 10:00 and told him I was committing," Morris said. "He passed me over to coach (Randy) Shannon. Coach Shannon was extremely happy and welcomed me to the Miami family. We'll meet in a couple of weeks.

"Miami just felt like the perfect place for me," he said. "It fit me both academically and athletically. I'm 100% committed. I'm sure I made the right decision. I'm pretty solid. I just saw no point in waiting any longer.

"I'll officially visit Miami but I don't have a date set," Morris said. "I don't think I'll visit any other schools and I've told them all that I'm going to Miami.

"Overall, I had 11 offers," he said. "Virginia finished No. 2, Purdue No. 3 and UCF No. 4.

Morris reports a 3.5 core GPA and a 900 SAT. "I'm qualified," he said.
