Cornerback impressed by visit to Lincoln

One of the top prospects making an appearance at the recent Nebraska junior day was standout Ciante Evans, from Arlington (Tex.). Did the Huskers show him enough to get him back for an official this fall? Find out inside with this exclusive update with Big Red Report.

With the state of Texas producing loads of D-1 talent every year, the Nebraska program has always tried to land their fair share of playmakers from the state. One of those players for this cycle is Ciante Evans , a rangy corner from Seguin high school.

He also just made the drive from home to Lincoln to check out the Huskers.

"We got to Nebraska about 1 today, we just left to head back home a few minutes ago. We drove all the way, I think it took us a little over 10 hours."

What did you do first after getting to Lincoln?

"They showed me and my dad all around the campus first, like a real big tour. Then I got to meet my position coach, coach Sanders. We talked to most of the coaches too. After we waited for all the prospects to get there, they let all the recruits that were there hang out in the players lounge for awhile, that place is nice.

"We also got to see all the facilities and the stadium, the weight room, all that stuff. Nebraska has real nice facilities, probably some of the best in the nation. I ran into Donovan Vestal too, already knew him a little. He looked like he was having a good time.

"Both me and my dad had a real nice time on the visit, I know my dad liked everything the program has to offer.

Then towards the end, the coaches took all of us in an auditorium and we watched this film."

What was on it?

"It was like this big highlight film of Nebraska football. Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch were on it a lot. Just showing some of the big games in Nebraska history, it was pretty tight. They had all the recruits in there with our parents watching it."

And after that, Ciante also had some one-on-one time with the head man himself.

"Me and my dad had a meeting with coach Bo. He just was asking me a couple questions, like when I might think about making a decision. He was giving me some tips and advice about everything.

"He seems like a real cool dude, and he knows a lot about defense, that's good for a player like me."

What did you tell him, when do you think you'll make a commitment?

"I told him Nebraska is high on my list, and I really like the school. They are one of my tops schools that I will consider when I do pick a program. But I think I want to take my officials first, and then pick the school. "

Anything else on the agenda for the summer, or are you done with visits?

"No, I'm probably not going to go anywhere else, that was probably my last trip. I might take another unofficial back up here and I know I'll take an official visit to Nebraska later too. I just don't know when yet."

When asked for his top schools at this point, Ciante said "Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas and maybe Illinois". He already has one official set for Utah, but couldn't remember the exact date. Stay tuned to Big Red Report for breaking news on the recruitment of Ciante Evans.
