Roback Picks Rockets

The University of Toledo received a huge commitment in the 2010 recruiting class when athlete Derek Roback gave his commitment Saturday night. Rocket Digest caught up with the Waverly, OH native to get his take on the Rocket football program and why he chose Toledo over several other offers he held. Read on for that and more.

The University of Toledo received a huge commitment last night when Waverly, OH quarterback Derek Roback pledged the Rockets over offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Miami University, Ohio University, Marshall, and Harvard.

Roback cut his list to Toledo, Ball State, and Harvard about a month ago. Then Saturday night he made the final decision to commit to Toledo.

"Everything fits well," Roback told Rocket Digest. "The offense is perfect. I love the campus and the football facilities."

All of those things influenced Roback on his decision, but there is one thing that really sold him on the Rockets. "The coaching staff is really what sold me," said Roback. He added, "they're really young and passionate about what they do. I think good things are going to happen very soon."

The 6-2, 221 pound Roback plays quarterback at Waverly High School, but was recruited to Toledo as an athlete. He is very versatile and is going to play quarterback, slot receiver, tight end, and wide receiver at Toledo.
