After an impressive performance at Ole Miss Senior Camp in July, Walker Valley HS OL Jared Duke has seen his stock sore in recent weeks.
"I guess I did pretty good," said Duke of his camp performance. "We didn't actually do many offensive linemen drills. It was pretty much group agility the whole time. I was impressed with it."
The Rebel coaches certainly took notice, with the Cleveland, Tenn. native making his way to Oxford Monday for an unofficial visit.
"It was great," Duke said of the trip. "I spent the whole day just checking out the campus. It was beautiful. The facilities were really nice. I was most impressed with the coaching staff. They're great guys."
Though he holds offers from Ole Miss, Louisville and Columbia, Duke has also received interest from Auburn and Vanderbilt. But it's become a two school race for the 6-foot-5, 325 pounder, with the Rebels heading the list.
While he initially planned to make a decision further down the road, Duke could choose his college destination much earlier.
"Ole Miss is pretty much at the top," he said. "Right now, Ole Miss is tied with Louisville. It's really between those two schools for me. Auburn is still in it and then there's Vandy, but they haven't offered yet. I'm pretty much down to Ole Miss and Louisville.
"I was thinking my decision was going to be much later, but it looks like I'm going to have to make a quick one. I'll probably decide before my season starts. It'll come down to Ole Miss and Louisville."
Duke said he was able to spend some quality time with the Rebel coaching staff while on campus, before heading home later in the evening.
"All they told me was they were giving five scholarships to linemen for my class," said Duke. "They said there was a need for tackles and they think I can help out."
Duke projects as a full-qualifier, reporting a 3.6 GPA and 24 mark on his ACT.
