Brett Swain Makes His Decision

Brett Swain, a 6-0, 195 pound athlete from Carlsbad (Calif.) visited Arizona State this past weekend and had such a good time on the visit he committed... to another school.

"I loved ASU," Swain said. "I had a great time and it's a great school but when I got home, I just realized I wanted to stay closer to home so I called up San Diego State and committed to the Aztecs.

"I tripped to SDSU (Jan. 3) and it was such a good fit for me. It's close to home, I love the coaches there and the offense is just what I'm looking for."

Swain was recruited as a safety by everyone but the Aztecs who wanted him as a receiver. This past season, Swain caught 46 balls for 989 yards and nine touchdowns for the San Diego championship team.

"I visited Utah last weekend too and that was nice but no school was as comfortable for me as SDSU," Swain said. "The coaches were the most real to me there. They don't BS you, they tell you how it is and I like that. They told me I'll have a chance to come in and compete for playing time right away but if I'm not ready, I'll have to redshirt. That's fine, all I want is an opportunity."

Swain had a huge showing at the SoCal Nike Camp running a 4.51 in the 40, 4.28 in the shuttle and jumped 28 inches in the vertical.
