Giansante Closing In On Offers

Jim Giansante is closing in on at least one scholarship offer and maybe more. The versatile and talented two-way star has helped lead Thomas Jefferson to a (3-0) record and the Jaguars are looking like a safe bet to once again go deep into the PIAA playoffs.

Jefferson Hills (Pa.) Thomas Jefferson safety Jim Giansante proved how talented he is this year against Uniontown as he led the Jaguars with six catches for 230-yards and three touchdowns. That was just a taste of the ability that Giansante possesses and colleges are taking notice. "I'm hearing from Akron, Kent State, Toledo, Ohio, Pittsburgh and Maryland," Giansante said. "I visited Akron, Kent State and Pittsburgh so far on unofficials." Giansante visited the Zips for their home opener at Infocision Stadium.

"I went there for the home opener against Morgan State," Giansante stated. "I thought it was real nice there. This is the first year that they have an on-campus stadium and there is a lot of excitement there. The campus is very nice and the facilities are awesome there. The stadium was real nice and there were a lot of people there.

"They came in recently to get my film," Giansante continued. "I think there is a good chance that they may offer me. They are looking at me on defense as a safety or outside linebacker."

Giansante has been a frequent visitor to Pittsburgh. The Panthers have four former Jaguars on their roster. Thomas Jefferson head coach Bill Cherpak was a former offensive guard for the Panthers. Giansante visited Pitt for their home opener against Youngstown State.

"I love it at Pitt," Giansante explained. "Heinz Field is great. The facilities are top notch. I have toured all the facilities before and I have driven around the campus a lot. They have a lot of real nice buildings on campus like the Cathedral of Learning. Pitt is just a great place."

Giansante also recently made a trip to Kent State to see them battle the Iowa State Cyclones.

"I had fun there," Giansante stated. "The people there were real nice. The facilities are pretty decent there."

If Giansante has his way he will be a busy traveler almost every weekend.

"I'm going to go to Toledo in a few weeks," he said. "I will probably go to visit Ohio soon as well. I'm going to try and go somewhere different every weekend if I can."
