Fort Hill Contains Forbes

Governor Thomas Johnson High School, a Maryland Class AAAA power hosted Class A state runner-up Fort Hill High School on Friday night in what they clearly thought would be a win with a player like Nick Forbes on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately for them, things didn't go as planned.

California commitment Nick Forbes and East Carolina commitment Jeremy Grove make a formidable duo at the linebacker position for Thomas Johnson High School, however while Grove is very talented in his own right, it was the four-star Forbes that most fans in Maryland thought Fort Hill would be afraid of dealing with. As it turned out, Forbes was just what they wanted.

The game opened with a downpour on Friday night that never seemed to go away and the same can be said for the Fort Hill Sentinels who threw down non-stop with the bigger school.

Nick Forbes entered the game averaging 12.7 yards per carry on the season, however he was held to just 14 carries for 34 yards on the night. On defense, the Sentinels attacked Forbes and stayed away from Jeremy Grove consistently, picking up nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns on the night.

To be fair, there wasn't much that Forbes could do on the night. To put things in perspective, Thomas Johnson had just rushed for 493 yards the previous weekend against another AAAA team in Tuscarora, however they only managed 71 rushing yards against Fort Hill. A swarming 6-2 defense did the job and Forbes and company were simply outplayed.

Fort Hill ended up winning the game by a 12-0 tally and we're still waiting on official defensive stats for Nick Forbes.
