Two new offers

Josh Gebhardt, defensive end from Landmark Christian in Fairburn, Ga., garnered a lot of of interest last month from schools within major conferences. The athletic prospect garnered two more offers last week.

"Navy and Nicholls State offered me last week," Josh Gebhardt stated. "Coach (Ashley) Ingram (assistant coach at Navy) told me that they had been interested in me for a while. He told me a few weeks ago that they'd probably offer after I sent them my hard copy (game video). After he saw my video, he called and offered."

"Coach (Jay) Thomas (head coach at Nicholls State) said they wanted athletes in their program. He said that they were close to filling up on offers for the year, but they wanted to make sure they got athletes in there. He said I was the type of athlete they were looking for."

Gebhardt has been contacted by numerous programs in recent weeks. He still believes he has all of the tools to play at the highest level.

"I've gotten calls from Maryland, Houston, Virginia, and Tulane," he said. "I've received a lot of emails, too. ECU, Baylor, Texas A&M, Arizona, and a lot of other schools have emailed. Things are starting to pick up again.

"I still wanna play big time football. I know I have the skills to play at the highest level. I wanna play in front of the big crowds. I am definitely looking to play in a major conference."

Gebhardt had another huge game last Friday, in just one half of play.

"Last week I had three sacks in the first half," he stated. "I had about 12 tackles. I had about five tackles for a loss. I blocked a punt. That was my fifth blocked punt of the season. I forced two fumbles in that game."

Gebhardt opened the season at the outside linebacker position. Teams ran away from his side of the field, so his coaches put him back at defensive end, closer to the ball. He has put up some impressive stats through nine regular season games.

"I don't know my exact stats for the season, but I have an idea of them," he said. "I probably have over 13 sacks so far. I have about 20 tackles for a loss."

Josh Gebhardt plans to schedule his official visits after the season. His five offers are from Air Force, Georgia State, Navy, Nicholls State, and Western Michigan.
