Zylstra's Patience Pays Off

Kent (Wash.) Kentridge linebacker Dylan Zylstra landed an in-state offer, his first one, and more could be coming for the all-state candidate...

Kent (Wash.) Kentridge linebacker Dylan Zylstra has been one of the best linebackers in the state of Washington in 2009.

But he had to wait patiently during the recruiting process for his first offer to come in.

Finally, that offer made it's way to Zylstra.

"I received a full ride offer from Eastern Washington," said Zylstra. "Coach Torey Hunter (the DB coach for Eastern) was the one who offered me."

Zylstra was thrilled to land an offer from the Eagles.

"I'm very excited and relieved to have received my first D-I offer," said Zylstra. "They see me playing at defensive end with my hand down. I am not quite ready to commit though, but this is a great honor."

Zylstra said he'll likely be taking a visit to Cheney next weekend.

In addition, Air Force has requested more film and could be next.

As a senior at Kentridge, Zylstra was a First Team All-SPSL Linebacker and named SPSL Linebacker of the Year after he led the Chargers in tackles, tackles for loss and blocked punts. He was also named to the Seattle Times All-Area Team as well as the Tacoma News Tribune's All-Area Team.
