Kentucky's search for a pure left tackle prospect may be over. Greenville High's (Ga.) Kenarious Gates has committed to Kentucky.

The 6-foot-5, 298-pounder committed to Kentucky this weekend over offers from Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. Gates visited Kentucky last weekend and took some time before making his decision.

Scout.com's Chad Simmons talked about Gates's strengths as a player.

Gates is an athletic offensive lineman and he has improved a good bit from 2008 to 2009. He is much better at getting to the second level and he drove his guy off the ball well Friday night. He showed very good initial punch with his hands at the point of attack and at times drove his man eight yards off the ball on running plays. He struggled in pass protection against a small and quick defensive end. He has nice feet, but really needs to improve his slide kick to the outside when setting the pocket. Overall, he had a solid performance and he has a chance to be a solid OL on the next level.

KSR will bring you more on this commitment in the coming days.
