Marques Dixon visiting Knoxville

Marques Dixon, three-star cornerback from Decatur-Southwest Dekalb, Ga., committed to Tennessee in January after an in-home visit. Dixon was caught off-guard by the recent news of Lane Kiffin leaving for USC. He talked about his commitment status and conversation with Lance Thompson.

"I have not de-commited," said Marques Dixon. "I just need to talk to everyone. I need to talk to my parents, to my coach and to Tennessee. I spoke to coach Lance Thompson earlier. I am going to go up there this weekend for my visit.

"I was really shocked to hear about coach Kiffin. I wasn't really picking my decision based on the head coach, but coach Monte Kiffin played a huge role. I wanted to play for a legendary coach like that.

"I still really like Tennessee as a program. Hopefully everything will work out. They have a high graduation rate. That played a big part in my decision.

"I have spoken to Corey Miller. He is already in school up there. He is shocked just like everyone else. He said he didn't base his decision on the coaches though. He based it on the program. I don't think he is going anywhere."

Dixon's conversation with Lance Thompson did not reveal too much into the future.

"My conversation with coach Thompson was very brief," Dixon said. "We didn't really discuss anything about who they were looking to hire. I am just looking forward to going up there on my visit right now."
