Recruiting: Cooper Ready For Signing Day

"Hey La-votch-eeya," I said by starting out the conversation with All-State defensive back Lavocheya Cooper of Arp, Texas. "I could have started out, hey Mr. Cooper but that would be chicken."

"You pronounced it right," said Cooper, who like many of the 18 committed prospects that weer making their official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend was on his way home. "We are just outside Dallas.

"It (the visit) was pretty good and I'm pretty sure I'm going there," Cooper added.

Wait a second Lavocheya, you're pretty sure? Cooper would be the first one we'd see as wavering that we have checked with, so after waiting a few minutes we asked if he was being pursued by other schools.

"TCU was but it is dying down," said Cooper. "No, I'm solid. I'm going to Oklahoma State," laughed the district MVP who had 87 tackles with eight interceptions including one returned for a touchdown this season and was also named All-East Texas as a kick returner.

Cooper said he had his mother, brother, and sister with him on the visit this weekend and he was hosted by Cowboys cornerback Andrew McGee.

"I got to meet my teammates and they were good people to hang out with," he said. "The food was really good, everytime. Yes, I really like it at Oklahoma State."

Right now Cooper is into basketball season where he is a starter for Arp. "Basketball is going good, we've won all of our district games so far."
