Telvin Smith has remained committed to Florida State since his commitment in the fall, but at the same time he has also kept other options open. Georgia and Florida have been hot on the heels of Telvin and they have given him some things to think about.
Last weekend Smith was in Tallahassee for his official visit. While he's been to FSU several times Smith said that he just wanted to take the visit to check it out again.
"I liked it at FSU and it was what I thought it'd be," said Smith. "I've been there several times before so I didn't need to see anything. I just wanted to take a visit there."
Smith's official gave him his first opportunity to meet the new coaching staff.
"I think all of the coaches are all great guys," Smith said, "and I got a long with everybody. They were telling me what I'd be doing there at the linebacker position. They feel they can line me up at any of the 3 spots. With them I like how FSU is about to come back."
Much has been made of former teammates Greg Reid and Gerald Demps being at FSU and how it'll play a role in Smith's decision. He told NoleDigest that isn't so much the case.
"It is cool that they are there but it really isn't going to play a role in where I go to be honest," explained Smith.
Telvin says he remains committed to FSU but he is looking at Georgia and Florida to see what the others offer. Georgia has been really pursuing him and Florida is up in the air for an official.
"Georgia and Florida have been saying the same things as FSU for the most part," said Smith. "They tell me I can come in and play. I like Georgia because they just got the guy from the NFL. I have my official there this weekend and I have an in-home with them Thursday. I am not sure yet if I will be making an official to Florida or not."
FSU is going to have to keep showing Telvin how much he means to this class if they are going to keep him committed. While he remains committed he is giving the other 2 programs a shot to flip him.
Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Telvin, as well as the rest of the recruiting targets for the 2010 class.
