Why Alabama: "Alabama is a great overall program. I love the tradition they have, and the coaches are great. I was really impressed by them. They really care for their players and have a good bond with them. I really like how they've turned it around and are now one of the best teams."
Strengths/Improvements: "I recognize plays well. I'm quick and elusive. I have good speed and am a good pass rusher. But I want to get stronger and work on my upper body. I'm pretty physical, but I want to push off blockers better."
Coach Quotes (West Brunswick head coach Jimmy Fletcher): "His biggest asset is his speed. Being that last season was just his first full year, every snap he gets, he gets better. Alfy needs to continue to learn the game and to play it using his speed.
"His first year was as a freshman, and he was decent, but fantastic he was not. Then he was sidelined all of his sophomore year with an injury. During a workout in the spring, he broke his wrist on a weight power cling. At first we thought he'd just be out for three weeks, but it was healing right and the doctor decided he needed surgery to put a screw in. After the surgery, the doctor just said 'no' and he wasn't cleared to play.
"He really grew up last season (junior year). "He looked OK in practice heading into the season, but in our first three games he was just phenomenal. That's around the time people started to notice him. At the time, he wasn't heavily recruited. Then after the season we sent tapes out to various services, and it was amazing the amount of interest that he's received.
"I think he has the ability to dominate a game by himself."
Andrew Bone says: "Alabama is getting a player has very good speed and can chase down players from behind. He has only played organized football for two years, but has a tremendous upside."
Richard Stover contributed to this report.
"His biggest asset is his speed."
