Williams Drawing First Looks

Mike Williams is one of DeSoto County's top football prospects. The talented signal caller knows how to make plays on the high school level and he is hopeful that he gets to extend his playing days beyond his prep career. Based on his list of early suitors, Mike looks to be on the right track.

"I am hearing from Ole Miss, Michigan State, Mississippi State and NC State. Those are the main ones," said Mike. "I am hearing from Grambling University too. Everybody's all pretty much sending me the same amount of stuff.

"I was getting a lot of things from Arkansas, but I haven't received much from them lately."

This past fall, Williams made the drive over to Oxford to watch the Rebels do battle with the Tenenssee Volunteers.

During the course of the day's events, Mike was able to get some a face time with one of the Ole Miss assistants.

"I talked to Coach Nix back during the season and he told me to come to the camp and show them what I can do," said the Lake Cormorant standout. "I plan on going to a lot of camps this summer."

Williams has made a name for himself in high school as a signal caller. Mike would love the chance to play quarterback in college, but he is open to a position change if necessary.

"I want to play quarterback because that's what I play," said Mike. "I will play anywhere though. I just want to play ball.

"I don't mind going to a school that is rebuilding a little bit. I want to be part of something new.

"My education is real important to me too. I want to major in physical education or business."
