Pippens felt welcome in Athens

South Carolina offered Ra'Chard Pippens last week and he is hoping that gets the ball rolling in recruiting. Another school he would like an offer from is Georgia and Pippens visited Athens on Saturday. He talks about his trip here.

"I had a great time over there, everything went very good, and I just felt very comfortable on Georgia's campus," said Ra' Chard Pippens. "It was just great being at Georgia, I loved the facilities, the coaches were great, and I had a great experience there."

The experience was a great one, but it could have been a little better. Pippens wants an offer from the in-state Bulldogs, but has reeled that in just yet.

"I am getting a good vibe from them and I think something (offer) could happen, but you never know. I talked to Coach [Scott] Lakatos and he told me that he is very interested in me. He watched my film against Henry County and he said he liked how I came up and made tackles. He likes big corners, so he said he was very interested in me."

The 6-foot-1, 181 pound defensive back out of McDonough (GA) Ola has interest in the Dawgs as well. He likes how it is close to home.

"If I went to Georgia, my family could come see me play and they would all be close," he said. "Georgia would be a great school to go to for a lot of reasons. I love the new facilities there and I felt so comfortable there during the visit. If I had a list right now, Georgia would be very high on it."

Like he said, he has no list at this time, but South Carolina offering him first definitely made an impression on him. The Peach State junior is really starting to generate a lot of interest and the spring could be a big one for him as coaches come out to evaluate him.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Northwestern are some of the others showing interest. He plans to visit FSU in the near future to watch one of their spring practices, but the school that was on his mind over the weekend was Georgia.

"I really liked Coach Lakatos, I got to meet Coach [Todd] Grantham (Defensive Coordinator), and everything was great over at Georgia. They all showed me a lot of attention, they made themselves known, they welcomed me in, and I have a lot of interest in them."
