Anthony Gardner visiting schools

Anthony Gardner, running back from Pleasant Grove, Ala., has been busy with visits the last couple of weeks. He talked about his recent road trip and weekend plans to visit an SEC program.

"I went to Southern Miss this past weekend," said Anthony Gardner. "The visit was very nice. I didn't expect it to be that good. I met all the coaches and talked to some of the players.

"I spoke to one coach ,and he asked if I had any offers. He said he would visit in a few weeks for one of my spring practices. I think Southern Miss is a good school. I have a relative down there. It would be nice to know someone who is there."

Gardner took a recent unofficial visit to Knoxville.

"The visit to Tennessee was really nice," he said. "I went to the athletic facility and saw the stadium. The practice was very live. It was exciting. I talked to the running backs coach. I really liked their head coach. He is a nice guy.

"It was my first trip ever to Tennessee. I really liked it up there. They were basically saying the same thing as Southern Miss. They are going to come see me in a few weeks. They also want me to attend one of their one day camps."

Gardner took a trip to the Peach State a couple of days later.

"I went down to Georgia the Saturday after Tennessee," he said. "It was the best visit I have been on. Their practice really caught my eye. It was very exciting. The running backs are my size.

"I talked to their offensive line coach who is also my recruiting coach. I also talked to coach Garner. He saw my highlight tape and enjoyed it. He is going to come see me at spring practice and looks forward to working with me in the summer at camp.

"I like everything about Georgia. I love the coaches, players and the campus. Everything there is great."

Gardner will travel to Vanderbilt this weekend.
