Recruiting: Athletic Clark Has Choices

Le'Raven Clark of Rockdale, Texas is one of the more athletic offensive linemen in the 2011 recruiting class. The 6-5, 240-pound Clark runs a 5.0 in the forty and says he has maxed out at 285 pounds on the bench press and 430 pounds on the squat.

"I made state in discus," added Clark about a pretty good accomplishment as it is hard to qualify for the state track meet in Texas. "My best throw this season is 158 (feet), but I had a 170 and they said my foot hit the line."

Clark said he is also involved right now in spring football drills. The crowd for those at Rockdale should be plentiful as Clark has offers from Baylor, Houston, Missouri, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, SMU, Utah, Louisville, and New Mexico.

"It feels good (recruiting) and I am just trying to take it in," he said of all the attention.

"I have been to see TCU, Texas Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas, OU, and Texas A&M," answered Clark when asked what campuses he had visited. "I was impressed with Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and TCU.

"We visited Oklahoma State a couple of weeks ago. It was good. They have great facilities and we had a chance to see their spring football game. We went on the same weekend that we went to Oklahoma and then just went on to Oklahoma State. Coach (Glenn) Spencer is recruiting me for them."

Clark, who seems to be very relaxed about recruiting and is not feeling any pressure, said he is not sure about his college major academically but he has started to thing about the decision process.

He said he thought he might want to make a commitment sometime over the summer but only if he knew he was ready and it felt right. Otherwise, he will keep looking and make his decision later.

Right now he has the state track meet in Austin to think about.
