Romero Knows Where He Wants to Go

Daquan Romero is contemplating making a verbal commitment.

"I basically know where I want to go," Romero said. "I've just thought about taking some time. I want to talk to my mom and a few family members about it.

"I feel like if I really want to go there then I should just go ahead make the decision, get it out of the way. That way I won't have to worry about it and start focusing on football."

Romero won't reveal the school he's leaning towards. However, the 6-foot, 209-pound linebacker from Hampton (Va.) Phoebus says three schools are under consideration – North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

"[With those three schools I like] just the staff and the relationship I feel I can have if I go up there and the chance I'll get to play," Romero said.

Romero isn't exactly sure when this impending verbal commitment will occur.

"It might be in a couple weeks or a couple of months," Romero said. "When I feel it's right is when I'll make [a verbal commitment]."

Over the course of the last few months, Romero has made visits to all three of his favorite schools.

"They all were pretty good visits and made me get a better understanding of how it would be if I came to that school," Romero said.

Following a late March visit to UNC, Romero said the Tar Heels were "leading by a little." Since that trip, he's visited one other school – Virginia.

Romero doesn't expect to take any additional recruiting trips before making his verbal commitment.
