First Offer In

Rufus Warren is one of the top tight ends in the state of Mississippi. With 13 catches, 348 yards and four touchdowns to his credit, he is more than just another blocker out there. The Mississippi Delta standout picked up offer number one today and he is pretty excited about the source of that ice breaking offer.

"I got offered by Mississippi State today," said Warren. "I talked to Coach Smith who is my recruiter and I talked to Coach Mullen."

During the course of the conversation, Rufus learned how serious the Bulldogs were about him.

"Coach Mullen said they were offering and that they wanted to see me at State real soon," said Warren. "Coach Mullen said I had been on their radar for a long time and he was ready for me to commit."

Rufus is excited about his first offer, but he wants to take some time to contemplate his options and his futures before finalizing his college plans.

"I told him I wanted to talk with my parents and he wanted me to come visit the campus before I made a formal commitment," said Warren. "I want to go visit the campus a couple of time to be sure Mississippi State is the place for me."

The Bulldogs were not the only SEC program to call the talented tight end today.

"Ole Miss called me too, but they want me to come to camp before they talk about an offer," said Rufus. "They called and said after the camp they will probably be offering me too. They heard State offered, so they called me to make sure I am coming to their camp on the 5th."

Alcorn State, Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State and Southern Miss have also telephoned.

"Everybody is talking about tight end, but they are talking a little bit about defensive end too," said Rufus. "I really like playing tight end, but I don't mind playing defensive end. Just put me on a football field and I'll go play."
