Top Performers - PIAA Combine

HONOLULU, HI - The St. Louis Crusaders proved one thing during the 9th Annual PIAA Combine, held Saturday at Aloha Stadium; they are packed with great athletes. But they weren't the only ones that stood out from a crowd of roughly 220 prospects spanning four different recruiting classes.

The head of the class was St. Louis quarterback Marcus Mariota, who ran a 4.40 40, a 4.09 shuttle, and jumped 111 inches in the standing broad jump. He measured in at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, and the scary thing is - he wasn't the fastest player on his team.

In fact, there were two other Crusaders that posted faster 40's on the quick stadium turf: 2013 receiver Jeremy Tabuyo (4.34) and 2011 defensive back Kalei Contrades (4.38). But Mariota was the only one that was top-3 in both 40 time (4.40) and shuttle (4.09). His shuttle time was bested only by another teammate, 2011 LB Starr Sua-Passi (4.00).

As far as the strongest players of the group, that mark was shared by two players - 2011 DL Kamalani Kaluhiokalani from Kamehameha and 2011 DL Apoga Sifagaloa from Waianae. They both benched 225 pounds 20 times.
