Super Speedy WR Holds Wake Offer

Mesquite (TX) Horn wide receiver Jakeem Grant has three favorites and he broke down the recruiting process with DeaconSports.

Wake Forest has offered the 5-7, 155-pound receiver from the Lone Star State and the Deacons are one of the schools at the top of his list.

While Jakeem Grant's size is not something most college coaches would envision in their ideal receiver prospect Grant excels in other areas. His speed and natural athletic ability make him a dangerous playmaker. Once he polishes his game a bit and adds some weight he could become a key asset to a program in a major conference.

In addition to Wake Forest, Grant has offers from Wyoming, Colorado State, Louisiana Tech and New Mexico. Lately he has been talking to Texas Tech. Tommy Tuberville has taken over that program and is making some changes, and he apparently likes what he sees in Grant.

Though Wake has offered Grant they have only spoken to him on one occasion.

"I talked to them when they offered but that was the only time," Grant noted. "They offered me probably a month back. I think it was the defensive coordinator that I talked to. He said they're very interested in me and they need a guy like me. He said they're gonna offer me."

"I'm excited about them. Wake Forest is a good school. I'm going to a camp at Wake Forest this summer. I'm going to one at Texas Tech and hopefully all the schools that offered me."

Grant didn't stop there. Some prospects like to keep things to themselves, but Grant is more forthcoming.

"I'd say Wake Forest, Texas Tech and Wyoming. Those are my three favorites right now," he said. "I guess if there was somebody else it would be Louisiana Tech. I like that school too, I just want to learn more about their program."

Grant plans on taking official visits before he makes his decision.
