Two Tackles in One Day

Just hours after learned that Arizona OL Tyler Johnstone verbally committed to Oregon, Scout found out that the Ducks had another tackle hidden up their sleeves. Roughly a week to 10 days after they had offered him a scholarship, Beaverton (Ore.) Aloha OT James Euscher also verbally committed.

"I committed maybe a couple of weeks ago," the 6-foot-7, 278-pound Euscher told Scout Tuesday night. "I didn't want to commit right away. I wanted to talk to my parents about it, make sure it was the right decision for me."

In the end, that space endeared Euscher even more to the UO staff, especially OL coach Steve Greatwood. "He gave me time to think about it, and that just gave me even more respect for him," Euscher said.

Euscher gave the good news to Greatwood initially, but hasn't been able to win the battle of phone tag with Oregon Head Coach Chip Kelly just yet. "He (Greatwood) was really excited," Euscher said when he delivered the good news. "I have to schedule a time to talk with coach Kelly. I tried to call him today but he's so busy...I'll try him again tomorrow. I have to call so I can set up a time when I can take my official visit."

Oregon was the first school to offer Euscher, and at the time of his commitment, Portland State, California, Boise State and Oregon State were all showing significant interest.
