Young RB enjoying camps

Derrick Henry is a very talented running back prospect from Yulee High in Jacksonville and Scout caught up with the rising sophomore to talk about his summer and the recruiting process.

Derrick Henry (6-3/220) will likely be one of the state's top prospects in a few years. He's already enjoying the recruiting experience.

"I went to Florida State for one of their camps, then Friday Night Lights, and another 7on7 tournament at Orange Park," Henry said.

The standout running back prospect talked about his experiences at FSU and Florida.

FSU -- "It was really good. We had a good workout. I saw what they do to train during the offseason. Coach Gran and Fisher are real. Coach Gran and I have a strong vibe. Coach Fisher is a good coach. Everything was well organized."

Florida -- "We got there late because we had a 7on7 tournament we were doing but we did some 7on7 drills with the coaches. There were a lot of real good players out there, too, so it was fun."

In addition to the Gators and Noles, Henry also has a lot of interest in Miami.

"I wanna get to one of their camps. We haven't gotten there but we will next year. Miami's a school I wanna get down to. I like their whole style. I like the players like Graig Cooper and I think I can fit in well with them."

Henry talked about some of his goals and expectations for this coming season.

"I wanna get stronger, work harder. I wanna rush for 3,000. That's my goal. If I can do that then I'll be good."
