Bernard Taylor doesn't have much trouble deciphering what it was about Indiana that made it the right fit.
"IU showed me the most love," the 6'2", 280-pounder from Macomb (Mich.) Dakota H.S. said Saturday.
And that's why Taylor decided to bring his recruitment to a halt and become the 21st member of Coach Bill Lynch's 2011 recruiting class.
The 63rd ranked offensive guard in the nation according to Scout.com, Taylor is a three-star prospect who is ranked just one spot behind fellow IU commit Ralston Evans among guard prospects. He also becomes the 10th three-star prospect in the Hoosiers' class, which equals the number of three-star prospects that Indiana's 2010 class boasted.
Indiana was one of the first schools to offer Taylor, doing so in April shortly after Ball State was the first to offer a scholarship. He has since added a handful of MAC offers, and had seemingly zeroed in on Indiana, Central Michigan and Ball State as his top choices.
But the opportunity to play in the Big Ten was too good for Taylor to pass up, as was the fact that the IU coaching staff consistently talked about more than simply what he could do at IU on the football field.
"I like the fact their program pushes for success both on and off the field," Taylor said.
