Scout's Take…Malcolm Crockett

2011 prospect Malcolm Crockett from Friendship Collegiate High School in Washington, DC is an electric player with game breaking skill. The talented running back will bring his big play ability to Cincinnati next season.

Malcolm Crockett is a very talented running back that is a big play weapon. He is lightning quick with his cuts and has a great burst. He has excellent vision and can get to the next level in a hurry. He has the ability to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. Crockett has good size with his muscular frame. He is very elusive in the open field but he can also be a tough, physical inside runner when he has to be. He is a determined back that runs through arm tackles. He is a good receiver out of the backfield and a mismatch if covered by any linebacker. Crockett is also a standout defensive player that plays sideline to sideline. When he gets to the ball carrier he hits with a purpose.

Cincinnati is coming into the Washington, DC area and coming away with one of its most prized recruits. Over the last two seasons Crockett has rushed for over 2,500 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also has close to 150 tackles on defense. He had multiple offers including Georgia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Rutgers and West Virginia amongst others. Cincinnati is getting a big time player from one of the area's more talent-laden high schools which will help their recruiting endeavors for the future in this area.

Crockett should make an impact right away. He could get in the running back rotation as early as the first game as a freshman. By the time he enters his sophomore season it will not be surprising if he competes for the starting position. He has the ability to be an All-Conference type of player and could also lead the conference in rushing before he is done.
