Scout's Notebook: Daytona was in Daytona one day last week meeting with top prospects from around the area. Lets take a closer look at who's who.

Mainland: -- The Bucs lost 23 seniors from last season, including about a dozen who had Division 1 scholarship offers. The top prospect, 2011 running back Marlin Lane, is still recovering from ACL surgery. He's back at practice and doing all the running but hasn't been cleared for contact yet. The Clemson commitment plans to make his return in week five this season. 6-4 safety Cortez Davis is playing both ways and is committed to Clemson. The junior class is loaded, too. The top prospect is defensive end Leonard Williams (6-5/250) who was offered by Miami a few days ago. Junior QB Shelton Willis (6-foot-3) led Warner to the state game two years in a row and is now a Buc. Keep an eye on Lane's younger brother, Marquion, for the Class of 2013. At 6-2 and 175, he's one of the most athletic kids in the school and his coaches see major upside there.

New Smyrna Beach: -- New coach Lance Jenkins has put together an excellent coaching staff that includes former NSB and NFL player Dallas Baker. The top senior prospect is running back Telvin Hooks, who has an offer from Louisiana-Lafayette. Keep an eye on junior quarterback Sean Washington, who played at Atlantic last season. He's 6-feet, very athletic, and will lead the Cudas at quarterback this season.

Atlantic: -- Numbers are down. The top prospect transferred. However, Atlantic is trying to build their program back up. The top prospect is only a freshman. C.J. Johnson plays running back and defensive back and is considered the best athlete on the team. He'll be one to watch for the future.

Warner Christian: -- Head coach Andy Price has done a great job with this small school program. They've gone to the state championship game in each of the last two seasons. The top prospect there this year is 2011 running back Breon Allen, who has an offer from Pittsburgh and a few others. Allen (5-8/160) plays on both sides of the ball and is expected to play a major role for them this season.
