Trinity vs. Shiloh: Recap

The 2010 Kirk Herbstreit Kickoff Classic kicked off this morning with Texas 5A defending state champions Euless Trinity taking on defending Arkansas state champions Shiloh Christian. This game provided of fireworks to keep fans and scouts entertained with over 70 points being scored in the first half.

First Quarter: (24-14, Trinity)

Trinity cam out with their offense firing on all cylinders. Senior running back Tevin Williams had a 24-yard run on the first play of the game and he eventually capped the drive off with a seven-yard touchdown rush.

Trinity held Shiloh to a three and out on their first possession and put together another successful drive that was highlighted by a 50-yard Brandon Carter pass on a trick reverse pass play. Junior quarterback Lahi Kautai capped the drive off with a three yard touchdown to put the Trojans up 14-0.

Shiloh Christian showed some signs of life as senior running back/defensive back Garrett Harper returned the following kickoff 93-yards for a Saints touchdown.

Trinity made their speed advantage obvious the following drive when junior receiver John Brown broke a run outside and took it 60-yards for a touchdown, out running a Shiloh down the sideline that had the angle on him.

Shiloh would capitalize on another huge play later on in the quarter when senior quarterback and Auburn commit Kiehl Frazier connected on a 69-yard bomb to senior receiver Zann Jones after scrambling in the pocket for around 10 seconds for a touchdown.

Second Quarter: (53-20, Trinity)

Trinity began to put the game out of reach in the second quarter. Terrance Tusan had three rushes including a 10-yard touchdown run. Shiloh responded with as 83-yard Frazier touchdown pass off of a trick play to Zann Jones but it wouldn't be enough to keep the Trojans from pulling away.

The Trojans would score two more rushing touchdowns from Williams (40 yard run) and Tusan (4-yard run), along with a interception by Q'Niko Thomas off of a tipped pass that was returned 69-yards for a touchdown.

Third & Fourth Quarter: (80-26, Trinity)

Shiloh opened the third quarter with a drive that was kept alive by a Trinity facemask penalty on fourth down. It ultimately resulted in Frazier scampering in for a 9-yard rushing touchdown.

Trinity would register two more rushing touchdowns by Sivad Boykin (58-yards), Brandon Reeves (39-yards)and end the quarter at 66-26.

Trinity scored two more rushing touchdowns by Jeremy Louis (7-yards) and Sivad Boykin (32-yards) to close out the 80-26 rout over Shiloh Christian.


Trinity had Shiloh out-matched from start to finish. They simply could not compete with Trinity's speed and their dominant offense & defensive line. Shiloh was able to score a few touchdowns on some tricks plays and a kickoff but the game was never really in question.

Trinity put up a staggering 565 rushing yards and 706 total yards. The Trojans looked as good as advertised and will be a serious contender to win another 5-A state title.
