B1G Media Days: Danny Hope From Podium

Purdue Head Coach Danny Hope spoke from the podium Thursday during Big Ten Media Days. Check out what he had to say inside.

Opening statement...

This is certainly an exciting time for Boilermaker nation, this is the first time since I became our head coach at Purdue that we potentially have a very good football team coming back. For the first time in a long time experienced QB's, our players are really excited.

On if he will recruit Penn State players...

NCAA has established the rules and guidelines, and as long as we are complaint we are going to exercise every opportunity we can to enhance our football team.

On the Leaders division only having four teams eligible for post season play...

Not necessarily, obviously it increases the odds of those that are eligible, but it is still going to come down to who wins the most and who plays the best. instead of assuming that it may be an easier road -- we have to grasp the idea that we need to win. We need to beat the teams that are eligiblbe an the teams that aren't to be the team that goes.

On the quarterback position...

We are very fortunate to be in the position that we are right now at the QB position, we have three very talented QB's and experienced QB's, Tarbush was the experienced starter and started the last couple games, he really improved during the course of the season and he came out of spring practice as the number one QB. He will go into fall as the number 1 QB.

On what will make Purdue contenders...

We have to play better in certain areas, and taking care of the football is huge. If you can win the turnover margin and stay healthy that really increases your odds of being a championship contender. We have to be amore disciplined team from top to bottom, and we have to stay together as a team. I believe we have the talent and the experience, we are a very fast team, and have a big defensive front and a great secondary. All the pieces are there but we have to put it all together as a team.
