B1G Media Days: Kevin Wilson From Podium

Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson spoke from the podium at Big Ten Media Days Thursday, check out what he had to say about the event and several hot topics.

Indiana Head Coach Kevin Wilson...

On Penn State...

For us that is game 11, I am excited for it. I have never had the opportunity to go into that venue and i know it is one of the great venues in college ball. But that is so far down our schedule I haven't really looked at much. Its a great venue, they have phenomenal fans, but it's so far down the road.

On Bill O'Brien...

?I have a lot of respect for Bill, I have known him since he was at Duke and Georgia Tech. A few years back we visited New England and he was the quarterback coach in waiting, and he was very gracious with his time. He is coming out of a great background, he is a phenomenal coach and I am sure he will do one heck of a job.

On the Defensive side of the ball...

Making some strides, we did address some recruiting issues. We have six junior college players coming in, so hopefully some maturity will help us. Year two schematics, and what they can do and can't do. Defensively we need to get better at a few things like third down stops... We worked very very hard in the spring to understand the concepts that we are trying to do and the routes and such. We are going to be a lot better on defense.

On being more productive...

3 out of 5 times we scored points at the 40 yard line, scoring points is going to be critical for the offense to complement the defense as well as getting some third down stops.

On making the defense more competitive...

We have to be a lot better than that, we were one of the few teams in the nation that gave up more rush yards than pass yards. If you are a true option team you can make some passes, in our world you have to get a team making some passes. A bunch of young players that are back, we only have 5 scholarship seniors -- 3 on the interior defense line.
