"We're hungry. We want to redeem last season. We're rallying around our head coach. I believe we have great senior leadership and I believe we're going to be able to get it done this year," he said.
Under new head coach Rich Rodriguez's staff, the team has put in enormous effort in hopes of rebounding from the 2011 season.
"The most important thing when you have a coaching change is buying into the system. I believe everyone has done that. Now that we've gotten everything out of the way in learning the base system, we'll be able to implement a little more and everyone will be able to play a hundred miles an hour," he said.
For Fischer, another perk to Rodriguez's staff was the addition of defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jeff Casteel.
"I really like his defense. Every defense is the same, but this one you can disguise a little more. I'm really glad that he's my coach," he said.
Ultimately, Fischer knows that the Wildcats have a lot to prove this season, but feels that his team is capable of exceeding expectations.
"We want to prove that what happened last year was a fluke. We've always had the talent to play. Last year, it seemed like what could go wrong, did go wrong. I believe if we all come out and play as hard as we can, every play, we'll be able to redeem ourselves this year," he said.
