The four-day event that is SEC Media Days just got a little bit more compelling, as the conference announced a new program entitled "Beyond The Field: Stories of the SEC," an initiative that will feature one student-athlete from each of the conference's 14 schools and their off-the-field stories.
"The athletic achievements of the SEC continue to be well-documented, but many of our student-athletes lead interesting lives or have intriguing stories that happen away from the field of play. This is an opportunity to tell stories of academic achievement, personal ambition, community service, determination in the face of adversity and character of mind. These student-athletes are the chapters of a larger book that is the story of the Southeastern Conference," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey in a release from the conference.
Each of the 14 student-athletes will be one of three from their school, along with their head coach, representing their respective teams in Hoover on July 13-16, at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham-The Wynfrey Hotel.
