The College Football Playoff Committee released its second rankings of the season with big changes from last week. Clemson held onto the top spot for the second week followed by Alabama in the No. 2 spot. Because three ranked teams, LSU, TCU, and Michigan State, lost in week 10, new teams moved up. Notre Dame jumped into the crucial Top 4. Ohio State stands at No. 3.
LSU fell seven spots to No. 9 after Saturday's convincing loss to Alabama. TCU and Michigan State dropped seven and six spots respectively and will need a strong finish to their season to have a possibility to make the Playoff.
Iowa vaulted itself into the No. 5 spot and could crash the playoff party if it remains undefeated over its next three games and win in the Big Ten Championship.
With the addition of Notre Dame to the Top 4, two Power 5 conferences, the Pac-12 and Big 12, are both on the outside looking in. The Pac-12 has two Top 10 teams in Stanford and Utah, but with Stanford facing Notre Dame in a few weeks, the conference should be nervous about their chances of entering a team into the Top 4. The Big 12 has four teams in the Top 15 and with four weeks of conference play left, all four teams still have a chance to make the playoff.
