College Football Playoff committee reveals first rankings

A look at the just-released college football playoff rankings

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee has released its initial rankings, selecting three unbeaten teams, Alabama, Clemson and Michigan, in the top three slots. Texas A&M (7-1) edged out Washington (8-0) for the fourth spot.

The committee's rankings will be released every Tuesday from now until the final 25 will be announced Sunday, December 4. This is a different method from the Bowl Championship Series, which used polls and computer rankings from 1998 to 2013.

Here are the top 25.
