Hugh Freeze on Ole Miss students leaving early

Hugh Freeze invites fans to practice after some Ole Miss students bailed early during the Rebels' home loss to Auburn.

Perhaps they sensed early that the game would slip away. Or maybe they just wanted to start their Halloween partying early.

Either way, many Ole Miss students headed for the exits at halftime of the Rebels' 40-29 loss to Auburn Saturday, annoying head coach Hugh Freeze.

"Does it bother me that some seats are empty at an SEC western division game with a one-point halftime game when you come out? It does," Freeze admitted Monday. "I would hope that they would stay for that and many do. I wish the ones that choose to leave will certainly reconsider it because we need their support. We need that place to be difficult and they’re probably the ones that can make it the most difficult. ... We have a great student body that I care for, and if there is something we can do to help make that happen, I will gladly consider it."

Freeze said the team looks forward to seeing Rebel fans turn out to watch Ole Miss' next practice. “I love our student body, and we are having an open practice for them on Tuesday to come to," Freeze said. "Many of our students are loyal, great supporters and help make our home atmosphere a difficult one to play in."

Ole Miss (3-5) hosts Georgia Southern on Saturday.
